Lovely meals, nice snacks and great evenings

The hosts are like your best friends and the welcome you get from them is superb, the food is really lovely and the whole place is warm and inviting.

A charming small town pub

Thought we would try the Skew bridge as we were looking for a good local pub to take our elderly relatives out for lunch, the staff were great , the young lad who took our orders was very polite and attentive .
My husband and father inlaw had the Scampi and both agreed it was very good ,my mother in law and I had two skewers each but we were not very impressed with them as they were over cooked ( tough ) and quite disappointing in presentation and value the so called leaves it was served with was mearly a garnish the meat was very dry and would have been improved by providing a selection of dips/ sauces.

My Excellent Local

I go to the Skew Bridge at least once a week after club night for a drink and more or less monthly for lunch with a friend.
Good pub grub. Very friendly atmosphere. Friendly landlord. Gets busy sometimes – always a good sign of a good venue.
Nick & Bernie know how to run a great pub. Long may it continue like that.

Friendly welcome from all staff

Hi I yet again returned to this friendly welcoming from all staff speedy service I loved the conversations and staff being helpful and polite will visit always as feel relaxed when visit this establishment

Great pub with food

Lots of pub specials & make much of their own food.. Pubbly come cafe with a dining room as well. You’ll drive by & miss a great value experience!

Good pub food, super helpful landlord

Menu has freshly cooked specials, the dippers option great for sharing, very competitively priced, always had good service and friendly staff – especially Nick the landlord, who goes out of way to help.
Good Sunday lunches, very good honest pub grub, nice separate function room if needed, handy little beer garden, right next to the Common.
Think that more should give it a go over more snobby Harpenden choices…

Christening buffet

A great place with great value felt very homey, the food was lovely and the bar staff were nice n polite. Would like to thank nick and bernie a big thank you for making a special day even more special

Good food and ale

This pub is a great little gem lovely staff and great publican’s . They produced a great buffet for a private function and have a wonderful selection of beers. They are very customer focused a great pub to visit.

Famly Meal

18 of us ate here yesterday, 8th July 2018. The food was lovely, the service was very efficient and the atmosphere was really nice. The only tiny negative is that I do think there could be more choice on the standard menu in the starters section as I always struggle to find something I like and I am not a fussy eater at all. I would definitely eat at the Skew again though and would certainly recommend it to friends.

Warm welcome

Back visiting Harpenden for the first time in a while, I found myself in the middle of a heatwave, therefore it was most welcome to find the fantastic beer garden at the rear of The Skew Bridge. I spent the afternoon chatting away with the friendly locals and enjoyed the perfectly served San Miguel’s . The lunch I sampled was top notch and very competitively priced. In short a lovely oasis on what was a very hot day. Highly recommended.
